July 2, 2004 -- InTheTreetop.com was founded in 1997, by husband & wife team, John and Tiffany Whichard, to provide unique and designer décor for children. It all begin when Tiffany was pregnant with their first child. "We wanted beautiful, well crafted furnishings for the nursery, just like we had in the rest of our home. We had so much trouble locating high-end bedding & furniture for our baby. It was quite discouraging. We had all the bedding custom made from designer ‘to the trade only' fabrics by a local seamstress. Everything we found that was pre-made was cartoon characters or clowns or teddy bears and made out of poly/cotton blend fabrics. We wanted soft, luxurious fabrics, like our own bedroom. We eventually settled for a crib & changer, that we weren't real crazy about, but we liked better than all other choices." The couple who decided there had to be luxurious bedding for babies & children– it was just hard to find, especially for parents who did not live in metropolitan areas. They thought why not find these great items & sell them via the internet. And so InTheTreetop.com was born.
